The Pecqueur LTM 5021 calibre incorporates the differential mechanism invented by horological engineer Onésiphore Pecqueur. The Differential presents itself as a gateway to the motoring universe and will assert the Club Pecqueur Motorists’ encrypted codes.
Onésiphore Pecqueur was not just a visionary watchmaker. He was also an artist with his own unique style, who crafted each element of his timepieces before assembling them himself. The Pecqueur Motorists watch collections pay homage to this philosophy; they are assembled at a dedicated production facility within LTM SA in Fleurier.
Exclusively developed by LTM SA (Le Temps Manufactures SA) for the Pecqueur Motorists timepiece, this calibre is distinguished by its technical sophistication, performance and meticulously executed high-end finish. It boasts 60 hours of autonomy, while calibres in this price range typically offer only 42 hours. To maintain consistent performance, all gear pivots are placed between rubies, which also helps to reduce friction and enhances the efficiency of the drive train.
The designers from Stellantis Design Studio drew inspiration from the wheels of a watch movement. The case and dial were designed with the help of compasses. The perfect harmony of these different circles, each fulfilling its own function, places the differential in the spotlight. The result is visually stunning: three off-centre auxiliary dials and two windows nest together like interlocking gears, subverting all the traditional stylistic codes.
Technically, the brief appeared to be straightforward: to perpetuate Pecqueur’s pioneering spirit with an innovative GMT mechanism, providing an intuitive reading of a second time zone without needing to reference a specific city or know how many hours to add or subtract from home time. However, this seemingly simple task concealed immense technical complexity, fully testing the designers’ expertise.

Onésiphore Pecqueur was a virtuoso horological engineer. Although frequently overlooked, his invention of the Differential in the early 19th century was groundbreaking. In 1828 this pioneering mechanism was the subject of a patent for the revolutionary “steam carriage for regular roads”, boasting innovations such as a satellite differential, rack and pinion steering, and independent front wheels. Today, Patrick Bornhauser, President of BPM Group (Bornhauser Performance Motors), is honouring the legacy of the man considered the first automotive engineer. This new haute horlogerie timepiece marks a return to Pecqueur’s horological origins.
